Baby Gibson is.....

Can you guess?

Yup it is a boy! I am 19 weeks today. At first I was a little let down because I desperately wanted a girl, but I am quickly embracing all things little boys. At the ultrasound, it was funny because the person doing it for us was pointing out all this stuff. I couldn't interpret it they way she did, but ok your the pro! I could only make out the basic stuff: head foot, spine etc. She is point out all this crazy stuff and the gender, and I am like what???? Where do you see that? Ok, whatever you say! They didn't say anything looked wrong, so hopefully things will progress that way! My fingers are always crossed for good news!

Maternity Clothes

I have been kind of avoiding maternity clothes for several reasons. Wearing my old clothes took away the fear that I would never fit into them again. I wont say i have been hiding my bump, but I have definitely not been flaunting it. I am just over 18 weeks, and I can still fit into my jeans, my khakis and a few select tops. I know people who started wearing maternity clothes at 12 weeks, and i know people who didn't need them until 6 months. I don't 100% need them yet. A few nights ago, I just started trying a bunch of maternity clothes I had gotten on that I had gotten on sale to see if they fit. Even though they told me they would usually stretch for your entire pregnancy, I have huge fear i will get fat and nothing will fit! I had a huge fear I would look frumpy

So, here I was, standing in front of the mirror, anticipating trying them on. I tried them on (they fit thank-goodness!), and I have no idea why I had been so afraid of them. Maternity clothes are COMFY!! Like, I don't even know if I want to go back to regular clothes after I have my baby, they are that comfortable! I had pictured myself in maternity clothes that resembled trash bags, but these are not only comfortable, they are cute too! The pants don't 100% fit in the belly yet, but I am sure in a month or so, I won't be having that problem! I even test wore them to work. My maternity work khakis are 1000x better than my regular khakis. I am no longer afraid!!!

tooth update!

Just wanted to give a quick update. I apologize to those of you who have been hearing me complain about my teeth. So i went to the oral surgeon friday for him to look at it. First off, let me tell you, he was AWESOME. I would recommend him to anyone. Even the receptionists were awesome. He took some x-rays and a visual exam to see what was wrong. The x-ray determined that it was my wisdom tooth coming in. My wisdom tooth was only a tiny part of a bigger problem. The problem I thought originally was my wisdom tooth coming in, was actually the tooth in front of it. The wisdom tooth had cause a lesion on my molar, causing it to get infected, and it was currently dying. The doctor said this wasn't recent or anything to do with hygiene, but building up over time as tooth grew in. The only option was to remove it, ( i may end up having to get that wisdom tooth out down the road). That infected molar was also affecting my sinuses because it was sort of connected up in my sinus cavity for some reason. Long story short, I got there at 8am, was done at 12pm. It took 2 doctors to get it out! They had to saw it into pieces before extracting it (let me tell you, that really hurt) They also walled up my sinus cavity as well. They also had to do a bone graft of it, and also remove some of my gum around wisdom tooth. They did a bone graft for replacing the tooth down the road. The cost of getting a new tooth there is EXPENSIVE. I'll worry about that down the road.

They could only give me local anesthesia because I am pregnant. They did the best they could to make it as painless as possible, and make me as comfortable as possible. But unfortunately, they could only block out so much pain, and I could still feel part of it. They gave me some sutures, sent me home with Tylenol with codine which I am not a huge fan of because it kind of makes me nauseous. I might just switch to regular Tylenol. I still have some sinus pressure, but hopefully it'll be completely gone by the time this thing heals up. I look like a 3 year old when I was trying to eat my applesauce and pudding. I have such a phobia it wont heal right, but i am just being paranoid. Hopefully that will all clear up soon. I go back in a week for them to look at it.

I was kind of upset because the procedure was about $1000 which i had to pay upfront, and they file a claim and hopefully my insurence will refund me part of it. I was upset because I had just paid off that credit card, and i was so happy....until i had to use. I am glad I had it to use, but now that is one more bill to pay of. ugh.

I am kind of bored with eating ice cream ( yes bored of icecream!), soup, applesauce, yogurt, pudding etc. I am dying for real food. This stuff just doesn't fill me up. What i wouldn't give for a burger and fries......On a good note., I was sort of able to eat some soft bread today, although i looked really funny doing it.

17 weeks

Today I had an OBGYN appointment. Today I am 17 weeks. These current doctors appointments aren't that exciting. They usually last a whopping 15 minutes. I do get to hear Baby G's heartbeat every time, which is good, it reassures me there is still a baby in there. I have yet to feel any kicks, or those 'first time flutters.' Hopefully soon, i will start to feel something in there. I am definitely starting to get a little belly. That is for sure. I have gained about 10ish lbs. I am not sure where though. Mostly in my stomach I am assuming.......i can still rock my regular jeans, yay! I am at that weird in between stage where some clothes fit while others don't.

Next week will hopefully be exciting. Next friday they are going to do an anatomy ultrasound. Hopefully we can find out whether or not we are on team pink or team blue. We shall see. Hopefully Baby G isn't camera shy, and we can get a view of the important parts! Until then, I guess we will just wonder......blue, pink, blue, pink?

A pain in the mouth

Dear God. Why are you punishing me? I just always seem to have the perfect timing and all the luck. Please, sense the sarcasm. Heavy on the sarcasm. Let me tell you a story:

Once upon a time there was a little girl named Melissa. Melissa needed braces, but had too many teeth for her mouth. So she had her wisdom teeth yanked in the 7th grade, along with a few others. Braces on, off, lovely smile. Present day: Melissa still currently has a 2nd molar that has not yet come in. But now, it is deciding to make an appearance 17 years late. They always say how things are worse when you are an adult. They weren't kidding. TALK ABOUT PAINFUL. Poor Melissa can't even sleep through a night because it is so painful. To top it off, she's pregnant.

So about the perfect timing. I feel like I have not been able to enjoy my pregnancy at all yet really. First I was nauseous, then I had work issues, and now a possible impacted tooth with severe pain? Sweet. I really have all the luck. I am not even 100% sure if it is impacted, coming in or infected. It hurts worse by the day. The worst part is, I don't even know if they can do anything now that I am pregnant. I would assume if it was really bad they would have to do something. They wouldn't even take my x-rays because I am pregnant. Now I have to wait from my dentist in PA to mail me my x-rays. What a pain in the mouth.Literally. I have tried tylenol, Orajel, salt water, eating ice cream. I have even put an ice pack to my face. No relief at all. My PA dentist says there is room for it to come in, so why the delayed appearance tooth? Just hurry up and get in, because you hurt like a mo' fo and to top it off, you are pissing me off. AND I'm losing sleep.

I might lose my mind. I might have to take a day off work and drive to PA because apparently no one in DC has time to see me. Go figure. Plus, ive been going to him since I was like 7, and i trust him more than anyone else. I just hope he has time to see me this week. I think I might die from the pain, or possibly go insane.

Pregnancy Prediction Fun!

Of course it goes: Jack wants a boy, I want a girl. We will find out in a few short weeks! AH! I am not sure how much I believe in the "Old-Wives Tales." For example, if you are really sick=girl. Ok, my older sister Steph was never really sick during either of her pregnancies..both GIRLS. My older sister Kristen, VERY sick during her pregnancy...BOY. Not sure how I feel about the predictions, but they are fun to read about. Here are a few I have heard or saw online that I answered:
  1. Extreme nausea means you are having a girl. Nope, none at all! BOY
  2. Craving potatoes? Having a girl. YUP thats me! GIRL
  3. If your hands are dry, you are having a boy; soft -- expect a girl. Dry.BOY
  4. If you're craving citrus, you're having a girl. Craving orange juice! Girl.
  5. If your skin breaks out, expect a girl. Yup, thanks hormones. Girl.
  6. If you feel graceful during pregnancy, you'll have a girl. Clumsy? It's a boy. Unusually clumsy. Boy.
  7. If you gain weight in your face, you're having a girl. I was told this week my face looked "puffy". Girl
  8. Craving salt? Expect a boy. Something sweet? You're having a girl. Not really craving either. Boy or Girl.
  9. Feeling extremely moody? Expect a girl. Oh Yes. Just ask Jack. GIRL
  10. If baby is low, expect a boy. High, it's a girl. too soon to tell.
  11. If you're carrying in front, it's a boy. Carrying in your middle? to soon to tell.
  12. Chinese Gender Predictor: Boy
  13.  If your age and year of conception are both even or odd, it's a girl. One even, one odd means it's a boy. It could be either. I concived at 27, in 2011. But I am now new 28. So either....i guess?
  14. If your leg hair growth is slowing down, it's a girl. Increasing? It's a boy. Pretty much grows back as soon as I finish shaving. Nah not much of a change. GIRL
  15.  If the baby's heart beat is more than 150 times per minute, you'll have a girl. Less than 150, a boy. Signs pointing to Girl. Usually over 150.
  16. Motherly Intuiton: I got nothin'!
  17. Dreams? I've had dreams of both Boy & Girl.

I guess we will find out in about 3 weeks! Stay Tuned!

embracing pregnancy

Today is 16 weeks....4 months pregnant. Crazy, that I am almost halfway there. I have heard both sides of story.....how people have LOVED being pregnant, and how people did not like it. I am not sure where I stand yet. Well, obviously I love the fact I will be having a daughter or son this August. What I mean is, I haven't really EMBRACED the body changes that are occurring. Maybe I will LOVE being pregnant when I have a more excitable baby bump.

What I have not yet embraced: people's personal comments, nausea, weight gain, lack of hunger (shouldn't I be more hungry??), my complexion, feeling fat, the "in-between" time,  and my ever slowly disappearing waistline.

I never got sick, so I never lost weight. I didn't have the horrible luxury like most women and barf my guts up, and losing 10 lbs. I have only, SLOWLY have been gaining weight. And, YES. I am guilty of judging my body on the numbers I see on the scale. I realize I am supposed to gain weight, I just haven't accepted it in my mind.

Foodwise: no cravings...except for a WAWA hoagie! AHHH! I try to ear healthy...er, or well healthier. I seriously eat like 3rd grader. Cheerioes & OJ in the morning, drink water, I snack on yogurt before lunch. Lunch usually consists of the usually PB&J sandwich, a bottle of water, applesauce, and cheezits. Maybe a mini snack before dinner, more water, and dinner is whatever I am in the mood for....which is usually nothing. Sometimes its soup, or grilled chicken. So its not like I eat unhealthy. I am just a really BORING eater.

My trip to Target definitely had a realization for me as I walked by the cute bathing suit display. No itty-bitty bikini bathing suit this summer for me. I am also in that "in-between" stage. My maternity clothes are too big, and my size 2 pants no longer fit. Its just frustrating. At least my favorite pair of jeans still fit!

Hopefully in the next few week, i'll start "embracing" my pregnancy more.
